Follow CR 17 east, past the fort and the town for about 2.4km and look for a small sign reading ‘Mount Josephine’ on the left (north) side for the small parking area. In another 0.5 miles, the trail passes Lake Susan Jane, then continues to an overlook of Josephine Lake. Three gorgeous miles. At midpoint along the lake, a trail to Grinnell Glacier turns and climbs to the west. It starts either with a 0.8 mile walk from the Many Glacier Hotel around Swiftcurrent Lake, or with a boat ride on Swiftcurrent Lake. Lake Josephine Trail is accessed by a paved footpath from the upper Swiftcurrent boat dock and runs west to the foot of Lake Josephine where it continues around the north shore of the lake as a dirt trail. Starting elevation is 5676' and the lake elevation is 5800'. The hike is easy and family-friendly, with just under a mile to walk each way. Only one trail connects Lake Josephine to Grinnell Lake. The trail, once again enters the trees into a nice, airy forest and loosely follows the lake's shore with intermittent views of the lake. Greeting you at the end of the hike is a beautiful 13-acre lake that hugs an impressive granite cirque capped with a view of the 8,286-foot Squaw Point. Choose a different trail for the hike back to Many Glacier Hotel. Once in the Many Glacier area, the easiest and most direct route to Lake Josephine is from the Grinnell Glacier Trailhead (Coordinates: 48.7969827, -113.6685409). Josephine Lake (4,681') is located 5.25 miles from Stevens Pass in the Alpine Lakes Wilderness.It lies in a steep-walled bowl under the PCT - Icicle Creek Trail junction. Hiking the 5 miles to Josephine Lake from Stevens Pass will give you the chance to experience a stretch of one of the most famous hiking trails in the country. The trail has a short spur to the lake, and your first amazing view of the lake. In species quality and quantity, it is Maine's most productive breeding pond, resembling some of America’s best national wildlife refuges. 250 FT 500 FT. N. ve. After Swiftcurrent Lake, you hike past Lake Josephine and finally Grinnell Lake. Josephine Lake is an emerald stunner. No membership needed. The last 5 miles on Highway 61 between Mount Josephine and the border are 5 of the most gorgeous miles anywhere. The north-shore portions of these two trails also carry foot traffic on the excellent Grinnell Glacier Trail. lake josephine is a little lake just west of swift currant lake.....if your at Many Glaicer hotel there are 2 ways to get there #1 take a hike from amny glacier just take the trail around the lake #2 take a boat ride and get off and walk a 5 minutes to alke josephine....JUST SIT ON A ROCK AND ENJOY THE VIEW<<
